Paint Analysis

Here at Paint Inspection Ltd we believe that caring for the environment, and caring for the workforce, are of the utmost importance; which is why we provide a full paint analysis and environmental lead paint test service.

Environmental checks are of major importance for the workforce as volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are a contributing factor to respiratory illness; also, a ‘bad’ layer of ozone can have a corrosive effect on certain manmade materials, for example, it accelerates the deterioration and fading of certain paints.

As part of our paint sample testing service, we will visit your premises and take several samples of paint, which we’ll then test in our laboratory. The accurate testing that we carry out looks for the presence of lead and other toxic substances in the paint, such as chromium, which can be potentially harmful to the workforce and the environment.

At Paint Inspection Ltd we carry out lead paint tests to assess the levels of lead exposure, VOCs, and other potentially harmful substances that may be present in the paint or coatings that your company uses. We will also complete air sampling on site, reporting regularly on the impact of the ongoing work.

We understand the need to obtain results quickly, yet accurately, when it comes to testing the workplace for substances that could be hazardous to health, which is why we can offer test results with a 48-hour turnaround on paint testing.

Our paint testing method is very thorough, and results in a full and comprehensive report that can include paint layering and thickness if required. This can either be part of a full coatings survey or a bespoke report depending on your requirements.

Paint Inspection Limited will work with clients and contractors to minimise the impact on the environment, and we constantly strive to deliver better quality and safer working practices, ensuring contamination control and correct encapsulation of high-risk working areas.

If you’d like to find out more about our paint sample testing service then please do get in touch with us, we’re always happy to help.

Sectors We Serve

Lead-based paint, despite its historical use, presents significant health and safety hazards, particularly for vulnerable populations like children and pregnant women. In the UK, stricter regulations and growing awareness necessitate proactive lead paint testing and analysis across various sectors.

At Paint Inspection Ltd, we provide comprehensive lead paint testing and analysis solutions to diverse industries, including:

Volatile organic compounds

VOCs are a contributing factor in respiratory illnesses such as asthma, and a major source of manmade VOCs comes from protective coatings and paint. Regularly monitoring and controlling the amount of volatile organic compounds that are present on your painted surfaces is one of the best ways to keep your employees protected from potential harm. Investing in regular lead paint testing can help to prevent loss of revenue due to employee sickness and absence further down the line.

Lead paint and its effect on health

Lead is a neurotoxin, and absorbing even tiny, microscopic amounts of it can harm your health. Unfortunately, lead can’t be seen, tasted, or smelled so the only way to know whether you’ve absorbed it is to have a blood or saliva analysis after noticing possible symptoms. Signs that you may have lead poisoning include abdominal pain, anaemia, headaches, irritability, and reduced sensations among other things.

UK Employers must comply with The Control of Lead at Work Regulations 2002 (CLAW) to keep their employees safe. The Regulations outline the guidelines for handling, processing, repairing, maintaining, storing, and disposing of any items that are liable to expose employees to ingestible and absorbable metallic lead and its related alloys and compounds. Having regular lead paint tests carried out on your paint and coatings can help you comply with the legislation and keep your workforce and the public safe.

Lead Paint Testing FAQs

We will take a sample of paint chips from your painted surfaces and accurately analyse the paint for lead and other harmful toxins at our lab. Our analysis will offer detailed information about paint composition and lead content.

Lead paint testing is a valuable tool for protecting health, ensuring compliance, and fostering a safer environment.

We scrape samples of lead paint from any surface that’s been coated, such as wood, metal, plastic etc.
