- A review of the project specification; which may involve a review of the contractor’s coatings submittals to verify conformance.
- The creation of an Inspection Test Plan tailored specifically to the project.

- A detailed report is then produced for the client, highlighting weak points in their coatings and recommendations for improvements.

- Level 3: Passing this certification requires passing another comprehensive exam, testing your knowledge of all aspects of coating inspection. You must understand relevant codes, standards and coating specifications.

Level 3 NACE Certified Coating Inspector
To achieve a level 3 certification, inspectors must complete five years of coating inspection or coating-related work and fulfil all NACE certification requirements including the NACE level 3 peer review exam. Level 3 NACE Requirements
The NACE Institute clearly states a NACE Certified Coating Inspector – Level 3 is recognized as an advanced inspector who:
Has “expert knowledge” of corrosion, surface preparation, cleanliness, environmental conditions, test instruments, coating mixtures, and safety.
Can undertake unsupervised non-destructive and destructive inspections of liquid and non-liquid coatings applied to any substrate.
Has demonstrated technical knowledge, and problem-solving ability regarding issues that may arise on-site and are capable of supervising other coating inspectors.
